Are you interested in studying human genetics/DNA? Are you curious about how DNA was made? To commemorate the completion of the Human Genome Project (April 2003) as well as the discovery of the essential composition of DNA (1953), National DNA Day was created.
ASHG annually holds a DNA Day Essay Contest in order to encourage high school students to be inquisitive and examine and challenge the nature of genetics by producing an essay. Questions will be announced in TBD. Submissions (not exceeding 750 words) should be submitted by a teacher or administrator. Prizes are awarded to winning essays of first, second, third and honorable mentions. Check out here to find out about the competition in great detail.
